The Shepherd Instructs December 5

Ecclesiastes 12:9-11

And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.

The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.

The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.

God wants you to be in a good church family, a place where you can learn His ways because His ways tend to work out better than our ways.

When a preacher’s sermon pertains to you, they will prod you (goad you) and even cut right through you sometimes. The wise will nail the words to their heart and apply the teachings in everyday life.

I once prayed for a man, and the Lord told me: “Increased productivity” As his eyes began to tear, I asked him what was going on? He told me he had gotten two women pregnant at the same time.

I understood what the word meant; he had to work more in order to provide. Then the Lord told me: “Tell him to find a church so that I can admonish him.”

I had to look up the definition of admonish, which means instructing or warning. I’m sure he wanted God to do something miraculous, but his actions had consequences, and God was willing to help him work through the repercussions by teaching him right the way.

If only he had nailed the words of God to his heart earlier in life, he could have kept five people out of poverty. I don’t know what happened to the man, but I know this if he was obedient to the word, God would help him.
