Self-Evaluation

Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance

God’s ways are genuinely unsearchable, and His gifts are irrevocable. My mother once told me, “When you give, give freely.” God is the ultimate gift giver, and He gives gifts freely: Eph 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; some prophets; some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers…

The Lord gives these gifts to generation after generation. Some of you reading now operate under the gifts and callings of God, a precious anointing placed on your life. But here’s the drawback and the consequences of such gifting. One is that God does not revoke the calling because of our sin; I have witnessed it and even indulged in it myself.

On that fateful day to come, the day Jesus will deliver eternal punishment, we will witness this millions of times: Mat 7:21-23 Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Here, after forty years of serving the Lord, is my observation. Christians who operate within the gifting, especially the prophetic anointing, judge their righteousness by their gifting. They can stand and prophecy all day, beautiful and meaningful words of encouragement that edify the body of Christ, prophetic words that lead the unsaved to the Lord.

Then, turn around and commit the most heinous sin against the body of Christ, backbiting, gossiping, bearing strife, and the list goes on, then the next day, get up on the pulpit and prophecy again. Just because you have the anointing doesn’t make you right.

Jesus may have chosen you because you have a big mouth, and maybe He thought I might as well get some use out of it. Pretty cynical, I know, but do you think the prophets going to hell were just all adulterers and murderers?

Self-justification leads to self-righteousness, and self-righteousness leads to eternal death. People can get on their knees and say to Jesus I am sorry without actually having true repentance; it clears one’s conscience.

I know we can all get caught up in sin, and we can truly repent and be forgiven. Still, I’m saying

Hebrews 10:26 For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins.
