Thankfulness October 26
Colossians 3:15
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
For some reason, these words come to me as I think about this verse, ‘This is a complicated piece of industry.’ Heading to my dictionary to discover that industry means cleverness. The Holy Spirit has a sense of humor, as these words are, cleverly placed together.
We have a choice in what we allow in our hearts; will it be peace or fear? But then He throws in this, to the which also ye are called in one body, in this sentence He is trying to convey that we are of one body in Christ, a body of believers is a body of protection, a body can save, it can protect, and it can heal.
I know that I don’t go to people who are all stressed out when I have been under tremendous stress. I have gone to my pastors, who are the head of the body, and asked them for prayer or counsel.
I am thankful to have had such Spirit-filled advisors in my life to help me get through the hard times. I’ve also had Jesus tell me to “Thank Him for…” and then He states the need I have. I haven’t even asked Him for help, and He is telling me to Thank Him for an answered prayer.
Being Thankful is a sense of being impressed by a kindness that has been received. If you are Thankful before the need is met, that is called faith. God is very kind, and He is generous in so many ways. There is always something we can find to give Him Thanks.
I’m sure I haven’t thanked Him enough.
