Hard Harvest October 30

Mathew 13:30

Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest, I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

I think we live in a time where Tares and the Wheat are being revealed, coming to maturity.

In the early stages of growing, wheat and tares look pretty much the same, but there is a difference, the grass blades of the tares are thinner. (Maybe that’s why we have so many overweight Christians?)

When fully developed, you can distinguish between a full fruited seed of the wheat and the thinner fruit seed of the tare. The tare seeds are poisonous if eaten, but it has other uses. By law the Romans forbid the two seeds to be planted near each other because of the potential for contamination.

These days, we see a maturation process, but it almost appears as though the tares are choking out the Christians. But wheat stands a little taller than a tare, and wheat has much more fruit than a tare does.

There is one utterly unique spiritual fact about tares, and it’s not that the blades are similar and look pretty much the same. The fantastic spiritual fact is that they can be turned into wheat!

At any moment, that person who you have given up on can become a Born-Again Christian! I pray that there will be much more wheat than tares. You get to choose which blade you want to be.
