Become an Olive Tree March 29
Genesis 48:5
And now thy two sons, Ephraim, and Manasseh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; as Reuben and Simeon, they shall be mine.
The patriarch Jacob is speaking to his son Joseph about Joseph’s two sons, Ephraim, and Manasseh. When Joseph was promoted out of prison by God, the Pharaoh of Egypt gave Joseph authority over all Egypt, answering to no one but Pharaoh. Pharaoh also gave Joseph an Egyptian wife, Asenath, and she gave birth to two sons, Manasseh the firstborn, and Ephraim second.
Reuben and Simeon were the first two sons of Leah, Jacob’s first wife. Jacob is using his spiritual authority as Israel to graft Ephraim and Manasseh into the nation of Israel, making them two prominent tribes in Israel, giving them the full promise of Abraham, his grandfather.
If you noticed Israel named the second son first in the Blessing, this is because God judges the heart, and Ephraim was special to God.
When you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, Just like Ephraim and Manasseh you are grafted into the kingdom of God with the promise of Abraham’s Blessing, Romans 11:17 a wild olive tree, were grafted in. So now you, too, receive the blessing God has promised Abraham and his children, sharing in God’s rich nourishment of his own special olive tree.
Just like Ephraim, you become His own special olive tree.
