Anointing Oil December 28
And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
Where did anointing of oil for the sick begin? Christians pray for one another, and they'll break out the oil, but most people do not know the significance behind using oil. Some people believe it represents the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Let's go back in history and see if we can figure this out.
In Exodus 30:22, God gives Moses instructions on how to make Holy anointing oil, and this oil was not to be replicated for anyone other than the priests. If someone made it and used it, they were to be cut off from Israel.
Aaron and his sons were anointed with this oil and the other priests, consecrating them for the ministry. Tradition has it that the oil in the lampstand never ran dry. God miraculously kept the lamp burning for centuries. But this also signifies that once the priests were consecrated with oil, the anointing never depleted.
For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
I'm implying that you should receive your healing when you are anointed and prayed over by a priest or an elder. Once healed, the anointing for that healing should not end. Keep your recovery, I've seen this before, Christians will get healed for a few days, and then it comes back, but you have a promise.
Priests used oil for sacred ceremonies, consecration, anointing furniture, medicinal purposes, perfumes, and anointing the dead. We see the anointing of Jesus was at Bethany before His crucifixion.
There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.
I have used olive oil several times to anoint houses for homeowners, mine included. You can often feel the peace enter the home and sense the presence of a demonic spirit leaving. I was instructed once by the Holy Spirit to build an altar at the Packard car plant in Detroit and anoint it with oil consecrating the land for God's use.
It's not the oil that heals; it's the power of God's word, by your act of faith or action of consecration. You open the door for God to do a miracle, a mighty miracle.
