Be a Good Gardener September 21

Titus 3:14

For our people must learn to help all who need their assistance, that their lives will be fruitful.

This verse is from the Living Bible, with this translation makes it easier to understand what Paul was conveying to the church.

There are two quotes I hang onto in life, and one is by Mother Theresa. While traveling by plane, someone asked her, “How do you do ministry?” Her response was, “Find something to give and then give it.”

The second quote was by a friend of mine, “It’s never convenient to do ministry.”

By that, he meant that when people need your help, it doesn’t just conveniently place itself in your schedule for the day. Usually, it happens after you have worked all day and feel like resting, then you suddenly get a call.

Hebrews 13:16

Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have with those in need, for such sacrifices are very pleasing to him.

I have to quote this verse to myself when I don’t feel like helping others. Sometimes I get in a mental rut of feeling used by people. Then with the proper attitude adjustment, I realize: I’m planting this seed for Jesus.
