Want to be Remembered? September 8
Malachi 3:16
Then they that feared the Lord spake often to one to another: and the Lord hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon His name.
I asked the Lord this, "What is the book of Remembrance?" The answer is, "This is the Book of all who have done My will."
Then there's 'The Book of Life' with the names of every person who has accepted Jesus Christ, Lord and Savior. This book is our citizenship into heaven.
The Book of Remembrance is for those who have done God's will, not only believed in Jesus Christ but pursued His callings in their heart.
When I was a youth pastor, I would encourage the teens to seek God for their calling. I would always get this blank stare in return. I could tell that they feared to ask the question because they were afraid they would have to go into the ministry, or worse yet, the dreaded missionary field.
One time I invited a prominent Christian Medical Dr. to speak with them about callings and career choices. He captivated them with a story about a new Mercedes he had just bought. Leaving the dealership on his way home, the Lord told him to go another direction, and he ignored the prominent voice. Moments later, he was in an accident and totaled his new car.
He sat and cried, not only because of the loss of his car but because he hadn't followed the leading of the Lord. At that moment, he must have realized that God wasn't trying to stop him from enjoying his new car. He was trying to stop him from the agony of loss.
Precisely what I was trying to explain to my kids! It's not just the call; it's a blessing. If God calls you to something, it's for your benefit as well as His.
When you do His will, He will remember what you have done.
What an honor.
