Life’s Struggles August 3
John 6: 67-68
Jesus said unto the Twelve, Will you also go away? [And do you too desire to leave me?]
Simon Peter answered, Lord to whom shall we go? You have the words (the message) of eternal life.
Sometimes life can get complicated; in this case, many of the disciples departed from Christ because they didn't understand His message. Not understanding is one of the hardest things to accept as a Christian.
I've had people tell me this in the past, especially when a loved one dies early. They will ask a one-word question, "Why?" when we ask 'Why?' were asking God to give us an explanation for His actions. Jesus did not explain His commandment in the synagogue that day.
John 6:54 Jesus said:
He who feeds on My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life.
But the answer did come, and with it, understanding. Jesus was talking about taking communion. Just the opposite of the one-word question, 'Why?' We must rely on a one-word explanation; 'Faith.'
Why? Faith, that's Why. Do you have Faith? Do you believe in Him when times get challenging to believe? Faith to trust in God when the hurt is so deep in your heart that you can't understand 'Why?'
My lifelong best friend's only son passed away. I spent the week with him and listened to his silence, and mourned with him. Before I left, I told him, "I didn't hear you say one thing against God." His response was one of Faith; "Why would I say anything against God? He's all I've got left." I'll never forget those words.
Don't let your grief steal the last thing you have, your Faith in God.
