Seasoned With Grace July 30

Hebrews 13:8-9

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever.

Be not carried about with diverse doctrines. For it is a good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.

Do you know what it’s like to be affected by the grace of the gospel? Jesus stands alone, never changing, willing to sacrifice His life for yours, and He would do it again if it were only you. The Holy Spirit just now told me: “Grace personified,” which means Jesus was grace in human form.

We tend to complicate our lives, adding rules that don’t add anything to enrich ourselves, but instead, they limit the joy we can have as a Christian. If I choose not to eat pork because I think it was against the dietary laws of the old testament, which were done away with at the understanding of Peter’s vision on the rooftop. How does that help me be a better Christian to you?

All my friends love bacon! Bacon doesn’t take away from grace, neither does it add anything to grace. Grace is a gift from Jesus Christ, which affects your heart. If you have unforgiveness in your heart, this can affect the grace of your life as well. Binding Christ from forgiving you, your unforgiveness can bind His grace towards you.

Be established in grace, not dietary doctrines, and it doesn’t do you any good when it comes to the gospel. Legalism doesn’t make you any holier, and you’ve been set free, free forever if you choose to be free, free in Christ.
