Psalm 19:12-14

Who can understand his errors? cleanse thou me from secret faults.

Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.

King David had some deep understanding of the way of the Lord, and himself for that matter. One time I observed someone take communion. Well, let’s politely say they were not in a perfect walk with the Lord.

Standing in the back of the church, I was deeply concerned for that person’s wellbeing. I prayed I forget what I asked, but the Lord spoke to me and said, “Everyone who comes to Me is in sin, Scott.”

I was astonished. He didn’t even say, ‘Except for you, of course.’ But you see, we don’t always know that we have sinned against the Lord. It’s good to know that He will cleanse us from our secret faults.

Presumptuous sin is a door you are willing to go through, you know better, but you still do it anyway. For instance, I know better than to say negative things against professional athletes, yet I still find myself doing it every football season. Here’s the good part, you can petition the Lord for your need, ask Him not to let that sin have dominion over you, and why is this important?

Romans 1:24

Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts.

Let your words and your thoughts be acceptable to the Lord, pleasing to Him, repent in your heart, ask for forgiveness, and most important of all, ask for help.

He’ll be your Strength and your Redeemer.
