Renovate Your Thoughts July 21
And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.
A comparable scripture is:
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Years ago, I was at a men’s bible study; some pastors and other well-known Christian men attended Bible study that evening. A young man new to serving the Lord asked us about this verse. “ How do you go about renewing your mind?”
I was much younger than these other Christian men. I sat there and listened to their complex answers; to be honest, I can’t recall any of them. I felt like Elihu in the book of Job, too young to give my answer, even though I had been serving the Lord for several years.
As we sat around this table, I could see the look of concern on this young man’s facial expression as he was trying to assimilate everything being said. I could tell he was becoming overwhelmed. I noticed another pastor, well respected in the community, was not saying anything either. He looked a little angry at all the answers being given.
Everyone was finished, and confusion reigned. That’s when I could take it no more, and the young man was sitting almost directly across from me. I looked at him and said, “To renew your mind, simply read your bible.” Everyone agreed, but it almost seemed like disdain from some of the other men in the room.
Finally, the other pastor who had remained silent said: “ I want to say this just for the record,” he raised his finger and pointed it at me and said: “I agree with everything that man just said!”
In this day and age, we are so inundated with doctrines from the enemy through media that right and wrong can become a grey area, a fog that dims your understanding.
Renewed means; to renovate or even remodel your mind.
Let the Bible and the Holy Spirit be your interior decorator.
