Your Road June 2

Mathew 2:23

And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

Here we have the record of Joseph, Mary & Jesus in their guided travels. Sometimes we think that we have a destination where we’re supposed to go, and then God changes our direction. In this case, He warned Joseph in a dream to go another way.

Joseph was afraid before he changed direction, fearful because he was headed back to Judea, but found out that Herod’s son Archelaus reigns over that region. Joseph wanted to go back to Judea because it was a place that was familiar. Jesus was born in Bethlehem. Maybe Joseph thought that’s where he was supposed to raise Jesus? Instead, God sent him to Nazareth, the very place it all started. Phillip (Herod Philip II), the brother of Archelaus, was a much more peaceful ruler and reigned over this region.

God let Joseph travel this road until He knew the time was right to change his direction. Sometimes we can start in one direction that we think God wants us to travel, only to face our fears and test our faith.

New beginnings can be a very stressful trial, but, in the end, it brings increased faith in Him, and He brings you into a place of peace. That’s what makes this scripture accurate:

Philippians 4:7

The Shalom of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Messiah Yeshua.

He is: Jehovah-Ra’ah

The Lord is my Shepherd
