The Story of Life April 3

Isaiah 43:18

Do not remember the former things. Nor consider the things of old. Behold I will do a new thing. Now it shall spring forth: Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness. And rivers in the desert.”

People were set in their ways back in the day, and many churches refuse to make the change. My old pastor used to say, “The message never changes, but the method of delivery does.” With this technical culture that we live in you can see the change.

Today a lady asked me to pray for her. As we prayed the Lord told me this, “She’s in Chagrin.” I told her what the Lord said. Then I received these blank stares back at me. I explained that I’ve heard this word years ago, but don’t really know what it means, her daughter googled it. It means distress or embarrassment at having failed or been humiliated.

She told me that was exactly the right explanation of what she was dealing with. This in the bible is actually called a word of knowledge. The word of knowledge goes right to the core of the problem. I asked the Lord what to pray and The Holy Spirit gave me this verse:

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Please put your past behind you and move on, leave the former things, the regrets of past failures. We’ve all failed multiple times.

Babe Ruth, the greatest home run hitter for the New York Yankees, actually had more strikeouts than home runs. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of getting up to the plate one more time. My friend Jerome used to always tell me, “Your opponent is just as tired as you, give the effort one more time than him, and you’ll win.” Many of us stop one prayer away from our victory, are you under attack from the enemy? Whatever your enemy is, it will not outlast the written Word of God.

Behold I will do a new thing. Now it shall spring forth: Shall you not know it? A New Thing! Springs forth & you will know it! Take encouragement! The things you call failures; God calls “utterance” that will spring forth into someone else’s life for encouragement. He can use you to create a river in a dry place, a new road of hope for someone in the wilderness, let your hope spring forth.
