Isaiah 58:8

Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the LORD shall be thy rereward.

Isa 58:9 Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity.

Sounds like a great promise and it is, but the seven preceding verses that explain how you can obtain this promise. Isiah talks about all the sacrifices people place on themselves to obtain the favor of God, and yet, they seem to never get anywhere.

Isaiah 58:6 and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

Oppressed is defined as: Mental pressure or distress, or prolonged abuse or control.

There are many ways to place yourself under oppression. By using drugs, you can give yourself over to mental distress or mental control of a demon. Some Christians have an unspoken belief: “If I have a medical prescription for it, it’s okay.” It may be legal but that does not make it okay, some use the drugs for pleasure. If you are in pain and you need medication, it is acceptable.

Offenses also come to mind, it’s often things people have done years ago, that just pop-up and instead of letting it go we pick the thought up like a favorite pet and try to cuddle it in our minds. The misery of being wronged and self-pity can feel like a toy poodle, but it is actually an angry viper, trying to choke the light out of your destiny.

Stop judging others, for some reason, this allows the enemy a stronghold in your life, this includes politicians, athletes, schoolteachers, police officers and any other person (Yes, I’m guilty, but it’s only because I’m right).

When I first began to preach, I would notice that when I pointed my index finger to illustrate something that, three of my fingers were pointing back at me!

If you have a particular sin in your life that you struggle with renew your mind by reading your bible often, praying for His help and His Word will deliver you.

Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer.
