“The God of My Salvation”
Psalm 32:7 - 8
Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah
I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.
This Psalm was written by King David; it really is a masterpiece of praise. David had learned to trust the Lord in his hard circumstances.
When I was a young child I remember being chased by bullies and believe me they meant to do me harm. As I ran down an alley way I found a round pipe culvert to hide in, at an abandoned factory. As I was hiding they came down the alley and walked past me, I even think one looked in the pipe but didn’t see me.
That memory came to mind as I was typing this. I think that is like Father God when someone is out to do harm and they walk past you to the next person. A lady friend of mine told me that she was in a parking garage walking to the elevator, a man came out to rob her, when the door of the elevator opened up a mouse came running. She screamed and had so much fear of the mouse that the mugger helped get rid of the mouse and forgot to rob her! Unfortunately, he robbed the next person that came through.
That’s how God can hide you from evil and preserve you from trouble.
But what about “thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance?"
2 Samuel 22 David writes his Song of Deliverance:
2 Samuel 22:1
And David spoke unto the Lord the words of this song in the day that the Lord had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul.
It’s pretty straight forward and easy to see that this is David Thanking God for his deliverance. But if we look at the verse above we see that it implies that God is singing songs of deliverance over us?
One night I had a very vivid dream. I was in the Olympics, in the middle of ice skating rink, sitting on a stool. I could see a gray cloud of witness’s in the stadium, I couldn’t see their faces but I knew that they were the cloud of witness’s that watch us. Camera flashes were going off, I had a thin veil over my face I could see the judges looking at me, as I sat there this beautiful black lady came out and started to sing to me and walked slowly around me singing. Then suddenly we were directly behind the judges stand and the crowd was going wild, I knew we had done so well and that we had won!
That’s an angel of the Lord, maybe His angels sing songs of deliverance for our salvation?
Then notice how the verse switches from David to God saying: "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye."
You see now that He has delivered you unto His Salvation, He can start to instruct you on how to walk before Him, into your own victory, over your own sin. Once you have victory you can sing your Songs of Deliverance. And Joyful they will be.
