Your Keys

Psalm 69:4

Those who hate me without cause are more than the hairs of my head; Those who would destroy me are powerful, being my enemies wrongfully; I am forced to restore what I did not steal.

I know there are times when you feel like there are more people against you than for you. Jesus knew this all too well. As I read the scriptures, I cannot understand the madness behind the people who hated Jesus Christ. However, I can understand the scriptures, such as,

John 15:25… ‘They hated me without a cause.’

And

John 3:19…and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.

There’s an old saying, ‘You forced me to play my hand!’ When Adam sinned, the enemy took the perfect kingdom; when He did this, it forced God to play His hand. It forced Jesus to come to earth as a perfect sacrifice and take back the kingdom to restore what He did not steal. Jesus gave us back the kingdom in:

Mathew 16:19

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

This scripture places me in wondrous awe, and with all my intellect, I can only ask one question, “Why? Why would you give back that which we lost through sin?” It’s like a bully that beats you up and steals your lunch money, Suddenly! Big brother shows up and beats the bully down, takes your lunch money, and gives it back to you! Then informs the bully that you have authority over him from now on. But after your brother leaves, the bully tells you that you don’t have that authority, and we believe the bully.

I marvel at the trust Jesus places in us, and I wonder why He loves us so much.
