Mathew 7:3
And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
We all need to go to the Spiritual Eye Doctor on regular basis to help us get our vision corrected. The word mote can also be translated as a twig or even a straw.
When I was in my early teens, one day we were irrigating on the farm, as I was walking to the ditch I went under some trees and a ‘twig’ caught me in the eye. I screamed from the immediate pain and instantly pulled it out, that hurt too.
But after a few moments, the pain stopped, and I was alright. For symbolic effect, had I continued with that twig in my eye I could have stumbled in the ditch.
Most people do not want to remove the twig from their eyes, because it can be painful, leaving it in place seems normal and even pleasant, but eventually, it will lead you straight into a ditch or a mote of your own demise.
Twigs come in different types of sins, the judgment of others, adultery, fornication, drugs, and the list never ends. It’s easy for us to criticize the faults of others and even laugh at their failures.
If we refuse to remove our faults the twig can become a beam so fixed in place that we need a surgeon to remove it. The best way to remove a twig, is to renew your mind, and how do you do that?
Simple, read your bible.
