Live the Salt-Free Life December 12

Luke 17:32

Remember Lot's wife.

Jesus quoted this verse referring to His second coming. We can find Lot's wife in Genesis 19, and God is about to destroy Sodom & Gomorrah. Lot and his wife are given instructions not to look back as they leave the city. Mrs. Lot looked back as the destruction was taking place, and she became a pillar of salt. On the side of a mountain near this location is a pillar of salt that resembles a woman, and it is called Lot's wife.

Why did she turn and look back? Was she looking at the destruction? Or was she looking back at her past? Lot lingered until morning, he did not want to leave his stuff behind, and the angels forced him to get moving.

Stuff, we have so much of it. It can be property or things from our past. I've listened to Christians talk about how bad they were before they accepted Jesus as their savior. Sometimes it seems as though it's a competition to see who was worse.

You can see some pride swell up as they talk about their sinful ways. There are times where sharing your testimony is good, and there is a time to leave your past behind and not look back.

When you look back, you're bound to stumble.
