And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou He that should come? or look we for another?
When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou He that should come? or look we for another?
And in that same hour He cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind He gave sight.
At this point in history, John has been confined in King Herod’s prison but, was John secretly reaching out to Jesus asking for help?
Many people of that era thought that Christ would come as a conquering king and set up His kingdom here on earth. If that happened would He come and rescue John?
Instead, Jesus, because of John’s question goes and heals hundreds of people, casting out demons and curing plagues, and unto many that were blind he gave sight.
Why did Jesus answer John in this manner? The book of Isaiah reveals it to us:
Isaiah 35:5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
This prophecy was reserved for the Messiah, there is no other record of a blind person being healed in the old testament, even the Pharisee’s knew this. This was the one sure sign that Jesus is Messiah. John received his answer, maybe it wasn’t the response he was hoping for.
Because John sought the truth about Jesus many people recovered from their infirmities, evil spirits were cast out of people, strongholds were broken, the blind recovered their sight, and lives were changed.
When we seek Jesus there is no telling how many lives you can change.
He is: Christos Theos
Messiah of God
