Amazing Answer November 1

Luke 7:19-21

And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou He that should come? or look we for another?

When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou He that should come? or look we for another?

And in that same hour He cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind He gave sight.

John has been confined in King Herod’s prison, but was John secretly reaching out to Jesus asking for help? Many people of that era thought that Christ would come as a conquering king and set up His kingdom here on earth. If that happened, would He come and rescue John? Instead, because of John’s question, Jesus goes and heals hundreds of people, casting out demons and curing plagues, and unto many that were blind he gave sight.

Why did Jesus answer John in this manner? The book of may Isaiah reveal it to us:

Isaiah 35:5

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

Reserved for the Messiah, and know-one else, there is no other record of a blind person being healed in the old testament. Even the Pharisee’s knew this, the one sure sign that Jesus is Messiah. John received his answer, and maybe it wasn’t the response he was hoping for.

Because John sought the truth about Jesus, many people were healed from infirmities, evil spirits, and the blind recovered their sight and changed lives.

When we seek Jesus, there is no telling how many lives we can change.

He is: Christos Theos

Messiah of God
