A Night Out October 11

1Corinthians 10:26-27

For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.

If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.

I know that as Christians, we can sometimes get hung up over false but well-intended beliefs, thinking that it is inappropriate to do things with non-believers.

I used to go hunting with people that were not totally on board with Christianity; it makes me laugh to think about it now. But those guys were rough and not well-spoken, but I loved each of them.

They always gave me the best spots to hunt, rooting for me to get a deer. And I rooted for them to be in the best positions to receive God's word. Truthfully, it's hard to shoot a deer when you're sitting on the stand praying in tongues.

One time a couple of the guys fried up a bunch of wild game that was not in season. I thought, 'that's nice of them; they must have taken it out of their freezer.' After we had all eaten, then they told me that they had shot it on the way down to the camp. I had enjoyed the meal, but afterward, I had to battle with my conscience. I understand what Paul is saying about asking no question for conscience's sake.

Had the guys told me before we ate that it was a poached game, I would not have it because it could have caused trouble with them receiving the Lord's message.

But the point is this if asked out to dinner by non-Christians, if you want to go, go. Enjoy the company, and be a light in the darkness.
