His Truth September 24

Genesis 3:13

And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.

On the day of the forbidden fruit, what did we do? We have all partaken of the forbidden fruit, the fruit of temptation. The enemy tempts everyone, and just like Eve, we have all eaten.

There are so many ways the enemy can deceive. Jesus is the, Way the Truth and the Life; Satan is the father of all lies, quite the contrast. The enemy has so many ways to seduce, and here is one of the worst lies he uses to deceive us, the lies we believe about ourselves.

Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Imagine a criminal telling that to the judge right before he passes a sentence. The enemy uses words and subtle thoughts to keep you imprisoned, keeping you in a place lower than God has intended you to be. He typically does this through others, insults hurled at you in jest, or any other way he can get them into your subconscious.

For years I would pray and ask God to help me be an eloquent speaker. I constantly compared myself to the great pastors and evangelists I listened to. Then one day I prayed this prayer, and the Lord spoke to me:

“Who told you weren’t an eloquent speaker?”

I thought for a moment and could not think of anyone ever saying that to me, so sheepishly I said, “The devil?”

“That’s Right! You’re full of My experience and Love!”

And that was the end of the conversation; enough said. I had been deceived for years. The next time I preached, I had so much more confidence (okay, I confess it was last Sunday.)

But you get the point, take out the trash and start seeing yourself the way God sees you. He sees you as More than a conqueror!
