Mailboxes August 28
Mark 3:11-12
And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
And he straitly charged them that they should not make him known.
A strange form of flattery. And Jesus had none of it; with His authority, He commanded them not to make Him known. The enemy had a plan of attack. Satan was sacrificing his front-line pawns just like a battle formation. Attacking the front line, the only line by sending people that were demonically possessed and yelling, "We know who you are thou Son of God!"
But what was he trying to accomplish? My first guess would be pride, puff Jesus up, crack that armor that so quickly causes all of us to fall. He didn't need the witness from the enemy, and He wouldn't accept the flattery offered by Satan.
Jesus chose the time; he would reveal himself.
The enemy uses the tactic of pride to make us all fall. Often it is subtle, little thoughts that creep in unawares, and then we notice maybe were not hearing from the Lord like we used to. Yep, it's time for a pride check.
Once I spent a considerable amount of time painting my mailbox. I began to notice how all my neighbor's mailboxes needed painting. I started to think, 'Man, I've got the nicest looking mailbox in the neighborhood."
The next day I came home, and someone had run into my mailbox and broke all the decorative cast iron off the box, and now I have a shiny mailbox that is missing the bottom half.
The point is, Jesus will help you get rid of that pride even if you don't ask for His help because He loves you. This next verse shows you how much God hates pride.
Psalm 5:5
The arrogant shall not stand in Thy sight; Thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
Don't let the enemy place pride in your mailbox. Put a lock on it by being humble because God hates pride.
