Break Forth

II Samuel 5:18-20

The Philistines also came and spread themselves in the valley of Rephaim.

And David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go up to the Philistines? wilt thou deliver them into mine hand? And the LORD said unto David, Go up: for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into thine hand.

And David came to Baalperazim, and David smote them there, and said, The LORD hath broken forth upon mine enemies before me, as the breach of waters. Therefore he called the name of that place Baalperazim.

David has just been anointed as king over Israel, and immediately the enemy sets up an attack. You ever notice that you can achieve something in life and immediately there’s a new obstacle in your way? Good chance it’s the enemy trying to steal your victory.

The first thing the enemy does is to start off by making himself appear larger than he really is. In this case, the Philistines set up their army in the valley of Rephaim which, interpreted means: The Valley of Giants. It is also the only route the Philistines could take into Jerusalem. But, it’s the same place where Jonathan and his armor-bearer defeated them. The enemy had to start from a place of defeat. His last defeat was your most recent victory.

Notice King David upon hearing the news goes straight to the LORD, David is a prophet, and this is why the LORD’s name is in all caps, he is hearing directly from Father God. Father God gives him total assurance concerning his victory. God didn’t promote you to fail, in fact, your looking at the enemy from your victory.

David went up and fought the battle, I can picture King David directing his army and seeing his men swath through the enemy like a dam’s wall breaking. That’s why he named it Baalperazim, which means: As the breach of waters.

Get a word from God, a word to go on, let Him break forth your circumstances.

He is: Jehovah Gibbor Milchamah
