Be Your Future May 20
Proverbs 22:10 Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.
Today while driving, I was speaking with a man in the backseat. As we spoke, I occasionally would look at him in the rear-view mirror to make eye contact.
He was told me about his relationship problems with his girlfriend, and he revealed that she’s extremely jealous, volatile, and now she has gotten physical with him, giving him a black eye with a severe cut.
Cut seems to be the appropriate word at this point, he needs to cut all ties with this relationship before it’s too late, but he’s in love. He told me it’s over now, and he knows it.
I realized that as we were talking, that I was looking in a rear-view mirror. A mirror works by reflecting light, and light travels at about 186,000 MPH. The distance between us of about 3 feet meant that everything I was seeing was from the past. I saw a past perspective on his current situation!
Sometimes we must put relationships in the past, and sometimes that can be extremely painful. Some friends come into our lives for a season and then move on. Hopefully, we are better for the encounter.
My advice to this man was to start confessing, “I make the right choices in life!” over and over again until the right choices begin to happen. Deep down, you know the right choice; we just don’t always want to make it.
The greatest man that still lives once said:
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
