Sing Your Way-Out May 8

2 Chronicles 20:17

Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you.

Have you ever been up against a situation so big that there isn’t any way to overcome it?

King Jehoshaphat was up against an army of three different nations that had placed Jerusalem under siege. They were facing total annihilation.

At the most challenging times of my life and in the loneliest moments when there’s been nothing, I could still sing His praise. When you have no hope, everything you do becomes so very hard. Doing a load of laundry and every shirt feels like it weighs ten pounds; the lawnmower is like trying to push a plow.

But what I noticed was that God never left me. Jesus would give me prophetic words for others, reveal mysteries to me in the bible. At times the Holy Spirit would feel like a blanket covering my back and head. Sometimes singing praise to God in all your troubles can be the most brutal warfare on earth. That’s what Jehoshaphat did; he consulted with the people and appointed singers to go out before the army. Here’s what they sang; “Praise the LORD, For His mercy endures forever.”

If you’re down and facing a situation beyond your control, God made it simple, one sentence to your victory.

The armies that were trying to conquer Jehoshaphat ended up slaying one another down to the last man. For three days, the kingdom of Judah stripped the jewelry and carried back the wealth to Jerusalem, and that was their reward for operating in faith and obedience. Now you know what Jesus did for three days after the crucifixion, bringing the saints from Paradise before the Father.

You see, you’re his reward.
