Trust Him April 28

Psalm 18:30

As for God, His way is perfect: the Word of the Lord is tried: He is a buckler to all those that trust in Him.

When I first read this scripture years ago, I thought, “What good is a buckler? It’s just a little shield that looks like a plate out of the kitchen cabinet.” Sometimes you can spend years thinking about a bible verse off and on and foolishly never think to ask Jesus what it means.

A couple of years ago, while I was sitting at Prayer Stop, I had a genuine vision. I happened to look over to my right and in the chair next to me was a man sitting; he was only wearing a leather loincloth. He had curly dark brown hair, a huge burly chest, and he was holding a buckler, and I think it was on his left arm? He was studying it.

This man was serious I could tell he had fought before, then suddenly he lifted his arm and crossed his chest and in a side thrust took that buckler and violently swung it towards my face! The edge would have come straight into my head, but before it hit me, the Lord pulled me out of the vision, and the man was gone.

I learned how seriously violent a buckler was; not only is it made for defense against a sword, but it can be a lethal offensive weapon too.

As I read this just now, and for the very first time, I saw how Jesus was hidden multiple times in this verse. In the book of John 14:6 Jesus said: “I Am the way the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Jesus was perfect; the sacrificial lamb, Jesus, was inspected for fault, and found no faults. John 19:4 “That ye may know that I find no fault in Him.”

Jesus was the Word, John 1:1, In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

We can see that Jesus is a buckler to all those who trust Him, and Jesus is God,

Acts: 20:28 “...Which He hath purchased with His own blood.”

Jesus won’t just block the enemy from attacking you; He will violently defend you with the same shield, He uses to guard you.
