Hope April 25
Philippians 3:13-14
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Today I met a lady, and she quoted this scripture to me, but in a natural way, it was sort of her philosophy on life. She said, “Don’t think about the past and all the bad things that have happened to you over the years, they make you just want to give up, instead find something good to hang onto something that you want to achieve and that will cause you to go on.”
I knew she was quoting this scripture, but she was doing it wisely by not confronting me with scripture or beating me over the head with the word. It’s an excellent approach to witnessing to someone.
She was constantly smiling and seemed to care about me genuinely. She did not know who I was, and this was the first time we had ever met. I spoke with her about the Lord and life, and then the Lord gave me a prophetic word for her. She was so excited; It seemed as though the Lord was thanking her for speaking His word, but the word He gave her was about her future and how He would use her to counsel others because of her wisdom.
She was correct; we should put the hurts of the past behind us and look forward to the future set before us, hope brings life, and hope means to expect an outcome.
