Galatians 5:22-23

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, against such there is no law

I was watching a newscast the other day, and the lawmakers were voting. I contemplated this and could not get it out of my mind. Today while studying this verse, it dawned on me.

As a nation, I don't think there is a clear answer to how many laws we currently have on the books. I did see where 40,000 laws were added in one day, January 2012. But there are no laws that can be formed against the Spirit of God.

But there is a tax, "a love tax," I guess you could call it when you go get your marriage license. But love is legal, joy is a gift you give yourself, peace is a gift from God, patience is learned, kindness is something you do, goodness comes from your thoughts, faithfulness substantiates who you are, gentleness is power under control, that's why it is followed up by self-control. Against such, there is no law; legislators can't make that illegal. God's word still stands.
