Jude's Prayer February 22

Jude 1:24-25

Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling. And to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To God the Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion, and power, Both now and forever,

Amen.

This reminds me of the Lord’s prayer, the prayer of Jude, Jesus’s half-brother. You’ve heard all the one liners before, “Place your trust in God to see you through,” “A prayer in time saves nine” (actually I just made that last one up, but it’s probably true)

How does the Holy Spirit keep you from stumbling? Here’s a couple of simple examples, you get too much change back at the cash register and that little conviction causes you to correct the mistake, someone makes a thoughtless comment, on the inside you’re fuming but you hold your peace, because you know that’s what Jesus would want you to do.

Why would Jesus do this for us? After all, He has already paid the ultimate price. Jesus has this burning desire in His heart to please the Father. One day He will escort you to the Throne Room of the Father and announce your name and present you faultless before Him! And Jesus will do this with exceeding Joy!

Just like in the Lord’s prayer Jude is starting off by positioning Who God is, and finishing it with praise. It is quite alright to personalize this prayer for yourself, but you can also personalize it for your children too. Just insert your child’s name in the place where I have typed ‘me’. You don’t have to quote it exact because the Holy Spirit knows your hearts intent, He judges the heart, and His intent is to judge it pure.

Lord Jesus, please keep me from stumbling today. And present me faultless. Let me enter the presence of His (Your) glory

with exceeding joy, To God the Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory and majesty, Dominion and power, Both now and forever,

Amen.

He is: Jehovah Qadash
