“If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand O king.”
“But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up”
It’s funny I typed this verse out and said it in my head, but I kept putting “If that be the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from every need.”
I can’t imagine a much greater need than to be delivered from a fiery furnace and an outraged king’s hand. But we all will face our own furnace someday. Whether it be the bankruptcy, divorce, surgery, homelessness all of which are just words until you go through it.
But our God is able! No matter what type of fiery furnace you are facing. But God doesn’t just deliver you before you get into the furnace, He meets you inside and there in the midst of your trial He communes with you! Imagine Shadrach, Meshach an Abed-Nego standing inside a roaring furnace that was so hot it killed the mighty men of valor that opened the doors of the furnace.
The men of valor in their haste to obey the king’s command, bound them in their coats, trousers, their turbans and their other garments. Why does the bible give such a detailed account of their outer wear? Simple because it’s all just stuff in God’s eyes. But notice when they came out of the furnace they had all their stuff. The king sees them in the furnace with the Son of God and calls them out. All the princes, governors and captains witnessed the Great Miracle of God! When they came out they had all their stuff, not a hair on their head was singed, nor were their garments affected and the smell of fire was not on them.
But they had something else on them that no king or no furnace could ever take away, recorded for all posterity, their victory in hand and the respect of nation! A new mantle of respect. Maybe you’re going through a trial and you don’t have much material, but after you find that place of communion with God you will be able to say in the Spirit, “devil you will respect me!” Now that’s the place to be.
He is: “Jehovah-Palat”
