“Don’t join mobs’ intent on evil. When on the witness stand, don’t be swayed in your testimony by the mood of the majority present, and do not slant your testimony in favor of a man just because he is poor.
The Living Bible
Every human has an inner desire to be liked, to be accepted by the crowd. The enemy knows this, but that same crowd can love you today and crucify your tomorrow.
There have been several studies done over the years about, “Mass Behavior” or how people react when in social groups. Once I watched a British television program on this. The object of the show was to see if they could get someone to murder another person by pushing them off the roof top.
The man not knowing he was on a reality show was subconsciously conditioned through the pier pressure of group behavior, and kept reinforcing him with the sentence, “What-ever the cost, DO IT!”
Through the whole show they led him down a dangerous psychological trail that brought him up to the roof top, where they tried to persuade him to push an innocent man off the edge to his demise.
At the last moment, the man told them he wouldn’t do it. I was pulling for him to do the right thing and he did.
But the show had one more surprise at the end, they brought out a dozen other people who had pushed the philanthropist over the edge (of course the philanthropist had a secret harness that kept him from hitting the ground.) The grand finale was intended for shock value and it worked.
If you know crowd behavior, you know a tactic used by Satan himself, and can stand in the evil day.
Ephesians 6:13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
