God Loves to Give October 4

Ecclesiastes 3:13

And also, that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God.

Proverbs 16:26

A laborer’s appetite works on his behalf, for his hunger drives him on.

Do you ever wake up in the morning and say, “Thank You, Jesus, for my great job!” I know I don’t. Maybe I should start. But I have thanked God for my work throughout the day.

Have you ever been told that your work doesn’t make you who you are? I’m sure there is some truth to that, but the truth is that we tend to place a lot of our self-esteem in our work, especially for men.

For people that like to work, rest is not an option, and they go stir crazy looking for something to do. Years ago, I heard about a college that hired ten men at top dollar to come and dig a ditch. The next day they told them to fill the trench back in and then re-dig the ditch. The next day most of the men did not show up, and by the fourth day, they had all quit.

Employment has meaning; it means so much that God has gifted it to us. Some people feel they’re not doing enough for God if they’re not in a paid ministry. You hear about pastors and evangelists operating in the Gifts of God.

A simple thought, If your job is a gift from God, when you work, you are working in your gifting.

If you’re out of work right now, like so many people, begin to thank God for your next gift so that you can enjoy life, and if you’re retired Thank God.
