And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices: and there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven Spirits of God.
One thing you can be assured of, the Throne Room of God is not a quiet place. But why? Verse 11 may give us some insight as to why God would choose to reign like this.
Rev .4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
God loves His creation, and God is, too say the least outgoing, everything flows out from Him. You were created for His pleasure, which means fellowship and friendship.
It’s hard for me to understand this, but I know it’s true. In our culture successful people hang out with other successful people, it’s just the way the world works. God being omnipotent and all intelligent wants to fellowship with us, He wants to hang out with you! This can only come from absolute love when you have children you enjoy spending time with them and listen to their understanding of subjects even though you know the subject far better.
The seven lamps are a Menorah, the Seven Spirits of God are the fullness of the Holy Spirit, seven represents completion, here are the seven spirits:
Isaiah 11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
These seven spirits flowed from the Throne of God to one man, Jesus Christ, all seven rested upon Him and in Him. And what did Jesus do with these?
Acts 2:2-4 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
He gave gifts unto men; He gave them to you.
