Seven and a Half September 1

Luke 24:15-17

And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.

But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

And he said unto them, “What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?”

After the crucifixion, these two disciples were on a long lonely hike of seven and a half miles, or so they thought. Most of us read over this scripture without realizing that Jesus is already fulfilling a promise He made back in the book of:

Mathew 18:20

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

In this case, Christ chose to manifest Himself in His physical body to console His disciples. If you are talking about Jesus, when there are two, there’s three because Jesus will always be there.

If you continue reading, you will notice that Christ didn’t tell them plainly who He was; he began explaining thoroughly from the scriptures, starting with Moses and all the prophets, everything concerning Himself.

In verse 30-31, Jesus took the bread and blessed it, gave it to them, and their eyes were opened, and they knew Him!

Why now? Why after they ate the bread? Because Jesus is the Bread of Life.

Revelation 3:20

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Jesus keeps His word.

He is: Immanuel
