By Ship or By Faith

Acts 27:14

But not long after there arose against it a tempestuous wind, called:

Eu-roc’ ly-don.

This is from the Apostle Paul’s journey, in some way a journey that he chose. At this point, he has been in prison for more than two years then sentenced to sail to Rome for trial. He was placed under the command of a Roman Centurion named Julius.

I’m sure you’re familiar with the phrase, ‘Just when you think it couldn’t get any worse.’ Well, it got worse, with a strong easterly wind that wrecked the ship. But before they set sail Paul withstood them, telling them that this was going to happen.

In our lives many times the Holy Spirit will try and warn you not to do something and we do it anyway then something bad happens, on top of all the things were going through already, then we think to ourselves, ‘If only I had listened!’

Paul along with 275 other men were cast into the sea that day, But Paul Opposed the Storm!

First, he was bitten by a poisonous viper, with no ill effect (I’m sure it still hurt.) But then, amazing things began to happen, the island residents began to receive healings when Paul prayed, and for three months the people housed Paul and his companions. I’m sure that Paul spoke daily to them about Jesus, ministering and teaching.

None of this would have happened if it weren’t for one very important thing: Paul’s attitude, something we all need to strive for: No Complaining.

When you chose Jesus as your Lord, you got the whole package trails and all, everything designed by the enemy to make you quit serving the Lord. Out of pure hardship and trials, Paul wrote this from his captivity in Rome:

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

You can Oppose the Storm, with a smile, a good attitude, and the verse from above.
