Study to Relax

Psalm 23:1-6

A Psalm of David.

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

A couple of days ago The Lord told me: "Study to Relax"

This is such a beautiful psalm, sometimes I just like to look up the meanings of the key words in the Hebrew concordance and just write it out with the complete meaning of every key word. It really can bring out the living word and help you meditate all day.

Psalm 23:1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; (He is to rule; by extension to associate with me as a friend a companion, He wants to keep company with me. He will devour, eat up evil entreat. Feed me, use me as a friend, make friendship with me. He is my keeper, my pastor.)

I shall not want (I shall not lack; or fail, He will not cause me to become smaller or less intense. To bereave the loss of a loved one. To have lack)

Psalm 23:2 He maketh me to lie down (to recline, make to rest, sit) in green (He places me in tender grass, green, tender herbs). Pastures (a house, a pleasant place): He leadeth me beside the still (comfortable, ease, quiet, resting) waters.

Psalm 23:3 He restoreth (He brings me back home again, He recalls to mind my recompense, recovers, refreshes, relieves, rescues, restores, retrieves & rewards)

my soul (my mind): he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness (the right natural, moral or legal way) for His name's sake.

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death (shade of death, that is, the grave), I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod (Your weapon or punishing, fighting, ruling) and thy staff (Your support and Your sustenance) they comfort me.

Psalm 23:5 Thou preparest (You set everything in a row, You arrange and put in order (in a very wide variety of applications You set the battle in array, You direct, you furnish, handle, join in the battle, You ordain the outcome). a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest (You satisfy, You accept, You fatten and you take away the ashes from sacrifice.)

my head with oil (With pure perfumed oil), my cup runneth over.

Psalm 23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow (You run after me, you chase me, and even pursue.)

me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Amen.
