Spiritual House Cleaning

Deuteronomy 7: 26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing. Deuteronomy is known as the ‘Book of Obedience.’ Delivered to and written by Moses it outlines principles for a blessed life. What classifies as an abomination? Something that is morally disgusting, such as pornography, but more importantly what is an abhorrence to God. Certain cultures will practice abominable religions and then give you an artifact that appears harmless, but is it? No. Once at a yard sale I saw a picture with a beautiful Indian lady on it. It was round and had nice fea

Stand Still and Find Your Answer

Numbers 9: 8 And Moses said unto them, stand still, and I will hear what the Lord will command concerning you. If I were from Texas, I would probably say something like; ‘Now that’s some advice worth taking!’ Have you ever gotten yourself into a situation and you just don’t know what to do? Moses learned this approach, stand still and listen to what God has to say about it. It can be very hard to just stand still when all the stresses of the world are hitting you at the same time. Every customer wants the same product now and you can’t seem to deliver. Take a moment and ask God how to get the job done. You will be amazed at what He can suggest, more often than not the solution is in your p

Get in Shape

Isaiah 64: 8 But now, oh Lord, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand. Christians tend to be afraid of this verse and for good reason! To be molded hurts, it’s a hard process, in the beginning, to soften the clay to make it workable. But let’s look at this process from Jesus’s eyes. For most of us, Jesus has pursued us, planned and organized your entire life, positioning people to say or to do the right things at just the right moment. Jesus himself has probably approached you and asked you to serve Him at one time or another. Finally, the day He waited for has come, you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour for the rest of your life,

Encourage Yourself in The Lord

ISAIAH 54: 5 For thy Maker is thine Husband; the Lord of Hosts is His name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall He be called. This verse is pertaining to the return of the exiles out of Babylon back to Israel. However it’s a powerful description of the character and identity of God. When everything in the world seems to be coming after you, as a Christian this verse is one you can use in prayer, a reminder to yourself who God is, and who God is on your behalf. I can see that God uses six different names to identify Himself! Maker: To accomplish, bring forth, Your Creator. Husband: He’s married to you, to your needs, to your problems, when married the tw

Life's Trails

Mathew 4:4 But He answered and said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.” This is, of course, the Great Temptation of Christ, Satan’s best effort to cause Jesus to fail. Jesus has now fasted for forty days and forty nights in the wilderness and He was very hungry. Satan said, “If you be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.” This is one of the most perplexing temptations ever, frankly quite a brilliant tactic on the enemy’s part, but why was it a sin? Would it have been a proud display of showmanship and power? To be honest there is no sin that I can see, Jesus turned water into wine before this a

God the Finisher

Luke 11:20 But if I with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is come upon you. Jesus only spoke what he heard the Father say and why would our Father say it like this? Couldn’t he just as easily have said, ‘But I with the power of God cast out devils?’ It’s comforting to know that Jesus used His words so carefully. Why did He choose the word finger instead of power? The word ‘finger’ comes from the Greek word ‘daktulos’ which simply means finger, simple enough but this word is derived from the Greek word ‘deka’ which means ten, and ten is the number for completion. There were Ten plagues cast upon the Egyptians: Exodus 8:19 Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, thi

His Word is Eternal

Psalm 12: 6 The words of the Lord are pure words; as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O Lord, thou shalt preserve them from this generation forever. I wish I could keep my word as good as God keeps His. If you want a standard to look up to, look no farther than the Bible. God has preserved his written word for more than 3500 years, with the book of Job being the oldest. In the 1940’s people were beginning to say that the bible was outdated, and no longer could it possibly be accurate. The word was not translated correctly. Then one day in 1947 an Arab shepherd boy looking for a lost goat in a steep valley of the Dead Sea threw a rock into a cav
