Store Your Heart

Psalm 4: 5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord. What are sacrifices of righteousness? As I pondered this verse I heard these words from the Holy Spirit; “What you’re doing right now.” Studying His word, the Bible, it’s that you're taking valuable time to learn God’s word, His ways. Spending time searching out God by reading the bible, getting up and going to church, singing His praises, kneeling in prayer, these are sacrifices of righteousness. Little by little these sacrifices add up, I don’t know if Jesus uses compound interest, but I know He pays well, and the retirement benefits are awesome. These sacrifices are bringing the words of Jesus to life. Math

Your Heart the Deep Sea

Psalm 42:7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. This verse reminds me of a time I was working offshore in the Gulf of Mexico an oil platform, it was one of my first trips out into the deep blue waters. On this day there were enormous thunderhead clouds high in the sky. I saw three gigantic waterspouts stretching up to the heavens it was a spectacular sight. The old timer I was with said, “Don’t worry about them there just waterspouts.” I thought, ‘ they look a lot like tornados to me!’ When I read this verse its easy for me to picture in my mind the sight of those waterspouts, they looked like an old phonograph with the hor

God's Banking System

Jeremiah 3: 15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding. This scripture is talking about the final reign of Christ when everything has come to completion God still sees a need for pastors to govern his church. The importance of a pastor and belonging to a church should never be taken for granted. Pastors are chosen by God to feed and nourish His sheep. Your pastor may not be the most eloquent or flamboyant speaker, but God has him there for a purpose. We may not always see the purpose, but that pastor has something that God wants to instill inside of you. I remember going to a church one time I was really helping the pastor as

The Great Race

Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. Have you ever heard the saying, ‘If you don’t get caught there's nothing wrong with it?’ The truth is God is always watching. I have this old saying that I think about often, ‘Excellence is in the details!’ Of course that applies to work, but have you ever thought about it applying to the details no-one else will see? A cashier gives you a dollar extra with your change and you give it back instead of keeping it, someone cuts you off in traffic and you ignore it, someone else takes credit for your work and you bless them. Do it often enough and the little things add up in your favor. I once listened to a s

Food for Thought

Psalm 23: 5 T hou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. W hen was the last time you had a banquet prepared for you by the Lord in front of your enemies? Probably more recently than you remember. This is one of the most beautiful Psalms in all of the bible, but we tend to look at it with western eyes. I really can’t see myself sitting at this huge table covered in food looking at all my starving enemies. Romans 12: 20 – 21 T herefore, if thine enemy hunger feed him, if he thirst, give him drink, in so doing thou shall heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good. Have

Source of My Strength

Psalm 86:7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me. How's your day going so far? No matter who you are you can be assured one day you're going to have some trouble. When I was a child we used to have this red rotary dial telephone with a long cord to the wall. I remember laying on the bed looking at it hoping God would call me on it, no matter how long I looked at it, it never rang, when it did ring it was always for my brother or sister. It's not that God didn't know how to use a rotary phone, He wasn't too busy for me to take a moment and listen. It was me not knowing how to dial the right number to reach Him. You see many, many years before there was this t
