Pray The Good

Philemon 1: 4-7

I always thank my God when I mention you in my prayers, because I hear of your love and faith towards the Lord Jesus and for all the saints. I pray that your participation in the faith may become effective through knowing every good thing that is in us for the glory of Christ. For I have great joy and encouragement from your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother.

This is a Gospel prayer, a good news prayer, notice that Paul prays for his friend Philemon from a position of Thankfulness. He prays for his good qualities, telling Jesus how good of a person Philemon is.

I think most of us are guilty when it comes to praying for the poor qualities of our friends and family, pointing out to God what we think is potentially wrong with them.

From a heart filled with love for his friend he prays the good qualities to God and then, as though Paul has promoted Philemon to the Lord he asks God to grant Philemon the gift of knowing every good thing that is in us for the glory of Christ.

Paul wants Philemon to see the good traits in people, the best quality in others. I was truly fortunate to be able to study and learn under the teachings of Dr. Sandy Powell, she has this gift of knowing the best qualities in others and making every student feel special, it’s love that reflects the qualities of Christ.

Maybe if we pray for the best traits in others it will help us to have:

Great joy and encouragement

Be a Good Gardener

Titus 3:14

For our people must learn to help all who need their assistance, that their lives will be fruitful.

This verse is from the Living Bible the translation makes it easier to understand what Paul was conveying to the church.

There are two quotes I hang onto in life, one is by Mother Theresa.  While traveling by plane someone asked her, “How do you do ministry?” Her response was, “Find something to give and then give it.”

The second quote was by a friend of mine, “It’s never convenient to do ministry.”

By that, he meant that when people need your help it doesn’t just conveniently place itself in your schedule for the day. Usually, it happens after you have worked all day and feel like resting, then you suddenly get a call.

Hebrews 13:16

Don’t forget to do good and to share what you have with those in need, for such sacrifices are very pleasing to him.

I have to quote this verse to myself when I don’t feel like helping others, sometimes I get in a mental rut of feeling used by people. Then with the proper attitude adjustment, I realize:

I’m planting this seed for Jesus.

Strength to the Faint

Isaiah 40: 29

He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength.

Understanding, God has it, when He carried the burden of our sin on the cross, He did this because of two of His many great traits, Love & Understanding. He knew we could never defeat sin on our own, and He knows the burden of the sin we carry. Sometimes we can let the mistakes of our past weigh us down to a point of weariness or becoming faint, some Christians refer to these times as being in the wilderness. It’s a place of our own making and for some of us a place we go when we get down.

Not wanting to pray, like Adam & Eve trying to hide our ways from God. Or we can face another type of faintness, its exhausting, physical, or mental or demonic attacks of the worse kind.

Years ago, I was going through some emotional times, I felt like I was a wounded fish in an aquarium filled with piranhas. At every angle, the enemy was applying severe pressure. It was like every fish knew I was wounded and would take a painful bite.

Then one morning I knelt on my knees and I could feel my veins bulging in my neck from anger, my face must have been beat red I told God I couldn’t take it anymore, and I needed His help, at that exact moment I felt His hand reach into my chest and gently squeeze my heart. He didn’t fill my heart with joy or happiness He filled it with strength, He strengthened me with the power that He gives to the faint.

Instantly I went from anger & weakness to confidence, suddenly I knew I could get through this. My strength came back and that’s partly what the word Power means, to give you strength and the ability to get through this.

Share the Comfort

Share The Comfort

II Corinthians 1: 3-4

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Apostle Paul knew how to encourage his followers because he knew who God is, our comforter. Paul was the ultimate wordsmith I think that he was probably one of the most intelligent men that ever lived.

Notice how he proceeds with this statement by invoking a blessing towards God, then he announces Who God is: Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;

But then notice how the priests who translated this scripture placed a semicolon instead of a period or a comma. A semicolon provides a break in the flow almost like the word in Hebrew: Selah, (pause and think about that.) It provides clarity and then it joins the two thoughts together in a connection of ideas, and both ideas have to be a complete sentence.

When we’re in Christ Jesus you cannot separate God from our tribulations, His Mercies, and His comfort knowing that Christ Jesus would be the ultimate use of a semicolon, connecting us with God, enabling us to comfort others in their time of need.

Maybe, now you know why you have gone through so many tribulations, it’s so that you can comfort others with the knowledge of the comfort you have received in the past.

A true believer can see more on his knees than others can see on their tiptoes.

                                                Bottled Water

II Timothy 2:21

If a man, therefore, purges himself from these things, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and profitable for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

Have you ever marveled at some of these ministries that exceptional men have built? We know that they have loads charisma and intellect, frankly, I wish I had half as much charisma and intellect as some of these great generals of the Lord.

But we are all vessels made for the Lord’s use, some are small and some are huge and we all hold the same oil, the oil of the Holy Spirit.

I used to deliver bottled water for a living, the water bottles came in many different sizes; 16 oz, half- gallons, one-gallons, three- gallons, and five-gallon bottles. Each bottle had its own level of difficulty when it came to carrying it or moving it to another location. I noticed some homes in Louisiana would have cisterns that held hundreds of gallons of water and they never moved.  The cisterns functioned in their capacity to serve the members of the household.

If you think that you are too small to be of any use to the Lord, remember it’s much easier to move a three-gallon bottle than a cistern. Jesus will often place you in the moment where you can give a word of encouragement, a prayer, or a simple act of kindness that He can use to water someone’s seed.

Your words count, your prayers matter, they matter to God and He loves to answer them. You get the choice on whether or not you can be a vessel to the Lord, a vessel of honor, prepared unto every good work, and remember it’s His water that you pour out when you share His name.

Fountain of Living Waters

Prophetic word from: Dr. Sandy Powell

Summer 2019

In this new season of preparing your field of operation, try looking at yourself from a different perspective. Who do you say you are? Who does man say you are? Who does God say you are?

In the stillness of this hour, the pain, suffering, and misunderstandings, are about to diminish until you can only see who you were created to be and the things you were created to do. The slate is being wiped clean. It’s an hour of the redemption of God’s hand, invading your heart, thoughts, and anything connected to His dwelling place within you. Finances will be affected. God will turn loss into gain. There is a rearranging such as I’ve not seen before. It is in preparation of the great harvest that has seeds in the ground waiting to spring forth.

What God has called us to do, will often be met with the resistance of man. Let not your heart be troubled for God is faithful and He will complete in you what He began. Part of the good news is…. He’s no respecter of persons, so, if you tend to grow weary, he’ll work through another until you’re back on your feet and running again!

No striving allowed in 2020 as you get yourself aligned with God’s updated vision for your life. The old is passing away right in front of you. Let it!  Jesus gave you His peace as a parting gift before He went back up to heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father until He returns.

Be His Reflection.

Prosperity x Soul = Peace

III John 1:2

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.

What a beautiful greeting, it would be nice if we did this to one- another whenever we ran into a friend. Sometimes friends with their greetings will almost pronounce a curse on us and the very people they love.

John is stating this to one of his pastors, Gaius who was leading a church and was having some trouble with another church pastor, Diotrephes who beheld a false doctrine. People like this can be very stressful to deal with, and John let him know he would deal with Diotrephes when he arrived.

Obviously, Gaius cherished this letter commissioned by the Holy Spirit and penned by the hand John. Gaius cared for it and seeing that it was preserved for future generations to read.  I wonder how many times he thought about this scripture?

There’s one word in this verse that can provoke deep thoughts, soul.

But what did the Holy Spirit mean by this? There’re two schools of thought. One: that the soul is life, your inner spirit and secondly, that it is your conscience, your mind your thoughts.

Let’s look at it this way, without your mind you are dead, without your spirit your body is dead, so we need the presence of both.

Romans 12:2

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The more you read your bible, the more your spirit grows into the truth of God. This will bring you into prosperity which means success.

The soul, mind and spirit, the presence of both and both in the presence of the Holy Spirit, that’s true prosperity.

God’s Blueprint

Genesis 15:8-9

And he said, Lord GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it?

And he said unto him, Take me a heifer of three years old, and a she-goat of three years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young pigeon.

And Abram said: “Adonai Yehhov’ee” which means: ‘Sovereign and Eternal’

Abram understood that God is self-existent, the beginning and the end, supreme ruler, but he also understood a characteristic about God, an insight a type of understanding that is only learned through love, obedience, and hard-fought battles.

Abram had just defeated five kings, five kings who were ravaging and destroying other kingdoms and cities. After the battle, Abram gave tithes to Melchizedek and the wealth taken from these five kings he gave back to the victims, and payment to his men. Abram didn’t want to take anything from this battle because He wanted God to have Glory for his great wealth.

Melchizedek the King of Salem was a type of Christ and Jesus came from the order of Melchizedek. Abram did not know or understand the magnitude of his gift towards Melchizedek, he just wanted to do what was right before God’s eyes.

Abram asks God for a sign, something he can hang onto. Then God tells him to do this, sacrifice these five animals, but why these five animals?

Here’s the symbolic representation of what Abram sacrificed on the alter that day.

Three: Father, The Son & The Holy Spirit

Heifer: Increased wealth

Goat: The Curse

Ram: Power, Jesus Christ

Turtle Dove: Innocence, The Holy Spirit

Young Pigeon: Poverty, Starting off life with very little.

Symbolically it's as though God asks, “Abram are you willing to give me everything?”

God is eternal, He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. He’s seen the end before the beginning so let us go back to our beginning:

(Pigeon,) We start with nothing, (Turtle Dove,) the Holy Spirit leads us to           (the Ram,) Jesus Christ, Who delivers us from the curse, (the Goat,) and replaces it with (the Heifer,) increased wealth, the wealth of the knowledge of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit the unity of Three.

Abram laid out his sacrifice, but in doing so that day, God looking down from heaven above saw a different picture laying on the ground, in the dirt God saw His blueprint for the Salvation through the Cross.

Hebrews 10:14

For by that one offering He made forever perfect in the sight of God all those whom He is making holy.

God has a blueprint for your life, and it is to make you Holy.
